Hello, and welcome to dpad200x.com. I’m dpad200x, and here I’ll be posting the progress of my self imposed challenge for 2025. "What challenge?" you may be asking. Simple, I started the year with two goals in mind:
Play more games
Write
Life’s too short, and as much as I love to call myself “an aspiring writer”, it’s high time I drop the “aspiring” part.
So, what do I mean by “play more games”? Well, over time, I’ve developed a nasty habit of starting a game and not finishing it, sometimes not even getting around to the starting part. So, my goal is to play games, new and old, and play them to the end. How many games? One a week sounds absurd enough, so that’s the goal. A minimum of 52 games in the year 2025. The grand majority of these games will be ones I’ve either never played at all, or ones that I started and never finished.
“What about writing?” you ask in my hypothetical. That’s where this site comes into play. For each game I play, I’ll post my thoughts and opinions about them here, as well as a few miscellaneous posts that either tie into gaming or explain more about myself or the process. Starting today, I will be updating this site twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday. Barring anything insane, this will give me well over 52 entries chronicling my journey.
Just who am I? I’m a lifelong video game enthusiast with over three decades of gaming under my belt. My favorite games tend to be JRPGs and platformers, with an admitted bias toward Nintendo. With that in mind, for the most part, I’ll be avoiding Nintendo titles. For years I’ve also had a tradition of playing through the Pokémon series in its entirety, usually opting to do challenge runs, such as Nuzlockes, to keep things fresh and interesting. I tend to avoid certain genres, such as sports and FPSs, simply because I generally prefer a more laid back approach where I can explore every single nook and cranny of a game.
With all of that out of the way, I look forward to pushing myself to the brink of insanity as I force myself to do this. 50 games in one year sounds draining enough, but writing about them? On the internet? To my knowledge, it’s never been done before. I hope this journey proves entertaining to others, and remember, if my opinion differs from your own, it is a personal attack against you and your beliefs. There can only be one correct opinion, and it is mine, because I’m posting on the internet. That’s just how it works.

This is going to be terrific, we’ve been discussing this stuff since we were 2nd graders! You are more than qualified my friend.
